Already at the beginning of her law studies Maria´s great interest in music led her to the specific field of copyright. At the end of her studies she was assigned by the Swedish organisation Musikförläggarna (then Svenska Musikförläggareföreningen) to map illegal use of musical texts on the Internet. After graduation Maria founded the law firm MW Musikjuridik focusing on copyright and music. Maria provided legal advice to eg. Musikförläggarna, Ronnie Gardiner Rhythm Institute and individual authors and artists. During the years 2001-2010 Maria worked as legal adviser at Stim, Svenska tonsättares internationella musikbyrå (Swedish Performing Artists Society). The last years Maria was responsible for the licensing of music rights online.

Other activities

During the years 2004-2005 Maria was a member of the working committee appointed by the Governmental IT political strategy group, with the assignment of formulating national objectives within the field of IT and culture. The work resulted in the report ”IT + Kultur = Tillväxt?” (27/12 2005) (English: ”IT + Culture = Growth?”).

During the years 2006-2009 Maria was a member of the board of the Swedish Anti-Counterfeiting Group (SACG).

During the years 2002-2005 Maria was responsible for the part on copyright with regard to the course ”Upphovsrätt och speciell kontraktsrätt” which was part of the Music Management programme at Baltic Business School, University of Kalmar (now the Linné University). The work included responsibility for examination.
